It was only a matter of time before the winds would align.
Senior Taylor Foster (Brearley) made the venture out to California earlier this Season, announcing her return to high-quality hurdling by grabbing third in the famed event in a massive personal best of 13.66. The 2025 Indoor State Champion, who had an off race in the trials for the title in 2026, was back with a personal best by nearly 3 tenths of a second.
The mark carried with it a +2.2m/s wind advantage, just over the maximum allowance of +2.0m/s. Even still, the mark landed as the 6th best All-Conditions mark in New York State History, a secondary record list kept for wind-aided and NWI marks across history. It boded well for the future.
Foster returned to the Track at Icahn, where two weeks earlier she had run 13.95 at the New York Relays. In the prelims, she clocked an easy 14.07 (-0.3m/s) win to move on to the finals, three tenths faster than the next best competitor. In the finals, she held nothing back, unleashing a huge 13.56 (+1.5m/s) performance to win by over half a second.
The mark moves her to NY-3 All-Time for the event under legal conditions, improving upon her AAIS Federation Record. It also moves her to #2 All-Time for High Schoolers at Icahn Stadium, trailing only State Record Holder Alyssa Sandy (Paul Robeson). Sandy famously ran 13.38 in a wind-aided prelim at the PSAL Champs in 2016, before setting the legal State Record in the finals at 13.45. Outside Sandy, only Ronnetta Alexander (Williamsville South), who ran 13.49 in 2003 keeps Foster outside the State Record. Adding in All-Conditions marks, Monifa Taylor (Harry S Truman) ran 13.55 in 1989, but is ineligible for consideration as it was wind-aided.
Foster's mark is currently tied for US-7 this year.
