New York Distance Runners Represent Well At NYC Track Night

The Trials of Miles once again put on their showcase at Icahn Stadium, the NYC Track Night, concluding with two marquee distance events - the Mile and the 800m. New York showed up well in each, clocking new personal best times in each. Check out the full recap below.

Boys 800m

600m Indoor State Leader Henry Frasca (Masters School) came through the opening lap in third place, set up nicely for closing kick. The race then opened up, with Jersey's Keandre Kelly of Union Catholic pulling away for the win. Frasca would cross the line in 6th place, at 1:53.87, just shy of his Season Best from the New York Relays at 1:53.66.

Boys Mile

In what was billed as a sub-4 attempt by top Sophomore athlete Abdinasir Hassan of Colorado (he ran 4:01 at Indoor Nationals) turned into a lesson in not celebrating early, as Nathan Lee of CT snatched the win in the final strides. New York was well represented, as Benjamin Berman (Bronx Science) placed highest in 3rd place, leading the chase pack. He takes a new NY-2 performance of 4:12.11 on the night. Junior Ryan Sykes (Greeley) was right behind in 6th place at 4:14.28, a new best for him, tied for the lead in Section 1.
