Dawson, Zaccariello Set School Records At NYU Team Challenge

New York, NY – Junior Tiffany Dawson (Staten Island, NY / Curtis) and freshman Daniel Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph's By The Sea) each found their way into the record books following their performances at the NYU Team Challenge on Friday. Dawson broke her previously standing record in the triple jump set earlier this month as Zaccariello knocked out James Johnston's year-old record in the 1000 meter by almost a full second.

Earning top honors in the triple jump in addition to setting a new record, Dawson was the only Seahawk to receive gold for the day's events. The Staten Island native's ECAC qualifying leap of 12.14 meters surpassed her previous record of 11.78 meters set back on February 5th. Taking home 8th place in the 1000 meter, Zaccariello clocked in at an impressive 2:30.42.

Three personal-best times and one season-best time were also recorded during Friday's indoor meet at the New York City Armory. Zachary Spector (Yaphank, NY / Longwood) crossed the finish line in 4:23.44 in the one mile run setting a new personal-best for the Empire State native. Senior Jessica Balling (Seaford, NY / MacArthur) and junior Colin Macdonald (Dix Hills, NY / Commack) each finished in 17th place in the 500 meter as Macdonald recorded a personal-best and Balling set a new season-best. 2011 NEC Indoor Women's All-Rookie Team recipient Cameo Kirk (Ocean Port, NJ / Shore Regional) took 14th in the 800 meter run while recording a personal-best time of 2:20.18.

The Seahawks finish out the indoor season on March 5th as they travel to Boston, MA to compete in the IC4A/ECAC.
