Junior Madigan White (Newfield) continues to impress in her specialty. White first came onto the scene when she won the New York State Indoor Racewalk Title over 1500m.
At Penn Relays, that distance jumps up to 5000m, but it proved no detriment to the Binghamton-area star. She completed the distance in a new personal best, and Section 4 Record of 28:58.20.
White finished second to Savanagh O'Callaghan of Ireland, the two-time defending Champion in the event. White's time is the fastest for an American since Alexa Governor (Williamson) went 24:52.06 in 2023.
The racewalk has long been dominated by New Yorkers over the years. It is the only state that contests the event as a sanctioned portion of their State Series. Both Maine and Ohio have strong clubs supporting the events, as well as other pockets across the Country.
