SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior Emily Harman (Petersburg, W.Va.) of the Orange tennis team and sophomore Joseph Bubniak (Danbury, Conn.) of the track & field squad are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 7, 2011.

Harman is a tri-captain on the tennis team. She holds a 3-2 record in doubles play and a 4-1 record at No. 3 singles through the first five matches of the season. Harman teamed with freshman Maddie Kobelt for a pair of victories at No. 1 doubles and earned another two wins at No. 3 singles, leading the Orange to victories against Binghamton and Colgate over the weekend.

Harman, a health and exercise science major, and the Orange host a full weekend of action at the Drumlins Tennis Center. SU entertains Seton Hall on Friday (2/11) at 4 p.m., Buffalo on Saturday (2/12) at 3 p.m. and Cincinnati on Sunday (2/13) at 10 a.m.

Bubniak is a distance specialist on the track & field team. He finished 17th in the mile run at the BU Terrier Invite with a BIG EAST Championship qualifying 4:11.94. He also posted a BIG EAST qualifying mark in the 1000-meter with a 2:29.76 and was a member of the 3200-meter relay team that finished first at the Cornell Upstate Challenge with an 8:04.10.

Bubniak, a political science major, and the Orange are slated to compete in the Binghamton Tri on Saturday, February 12.
