NEW YORK – Members of the Syracuse University track and field team competed in the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at the Armory in New York City on Friday and Saturday. More than 90 institutions were represented at the meet, including seven of the nation's top 20 teams.
Junior Matthew Callanan and freshman Donald Pollitt finished 10-11 in the 60-meter hurdles with IC4A qualifying times of 8.18 and 8.20, respectively. Sophomore Tyler McCully took 34th in the 500m run with a time of 1:10.89 and 51st in the 400m run (50.73).
In the field, senior Kwaku Boah broke the SU men's indoor weight throw record by .42 meters with his IC4A qualifying throw of 19.93m, which earned him a sixth place. Boah also took 30th in the shot put with a heave of 14.84m.
On the women's side, freshman Amber Passalagua notched a fourth-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.60m. Freshman SaDe Lewis's time of 9.09 in the 60-meter hurdles earned her 13th place. Passalaqua followed in 35th with a time of 9.41.
In the 60-meter dash, senior Lareea Chisholm (7.92) and Ashley Keyes (7.93) finished 32nd and 34th, respectively.
Junior Ieva Staponkute took 15th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.24. She has reached the ECAC qualifying standards in all three meets this season.
