Distance Runners Shine In Boston

BOSTON, Mass. – Syracuse University's distance runners highlighted a strong showing for the track and field team at the Terrier Invite host by Boston University on Jan. 28 and 29. 

Three Orange women earned top-10 finishes in the 3000m run with ECAC qualifying times. Junior Lauren Penney took third place with a time of 9:16.01. Junior Heather Stephens (9:29.61) and senior Catherine DeSarle (9:36.50) followed closely behind in sixth and eighth place, respectively.

Junior Natalie Busby legged out a sixth-place finish in the 5000m with a time of 16:44.67. Freshman Michelle Riley's time of 2:15.21 in the 800m run also earned her sixth place.

On the men's side, sophomore Andrew Nelson finished fourth in the 1000m run with an IC4A qualifying time of 2:27.50. Senior Corey Robinson (8:14.86) and junior Pat Dupont (8:15.05) each ran IC4A qualifying time in the 3000m run, placing ninth and tenth, respectively.

Three Orange men finished in the top-10 in the 5000m with IC4A qualifying times. Freshman Andrew Palmer finished seventh with of time of 14:25.63. Freshman Reed Kamyszek took ninth with a time of 14:28.32, followed by fellow newcomer Max Straneva at 14:29.4.
