Wagner Impresses At Lehigh Invitational

COMPLETE RESULTS

Staten Island, NY – Wagner College's men's and women's track and field teams displayed an impressive performance at the Lehigh Invitational on Saturday, January 22nd. Between the two teams the Seahawks witnessed twelve personal-best performances and five season-best marks.

Junior Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA / St. Joe's Prep) and junior Zachary Spector (Yaphank, NY / Longwood) captured the two first place finishes for the Wagner men in the 800m and 3000m runs. Iannacone captured top honors in the 800m run with a personal-best time of 1:59.94 as freshman Michael Baio (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph's By The Sea) finished ninth overall with a personal-best finish of 2:03.89. Spector won the top spot in the 3000m run finishing 10 full seconds ahead of the rest of the pack with a time of 8:51.50. Senior Derek Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY / Miller Place) finished ninth in the event with a recorded personal-best time of 9:16.73.

In the 1 mile run, junior Colin Macdonald (Dix Hills, NY / Commack) and sophomore Matthew Driscoll (Lewiston, ME / Lewiston) recorded personal-best times of 4:36.24 and 4:40.73, good for 17th and 23rd place respectively. Freshman Dan Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph's By The Sea) finished first for the Seahawks in the event crossing the finish line in 4:27.29 and a sixth place finish overall.

The 4x800m relay team consisting of Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA / St. Joe's Prep), Daniel Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph's By The Sea), Faisal Abdillahi (Lewiston, ME / Lewiston) and Brian Doxey (West Islip, NY / West Islip) recorded a season-best finish for the Green White with a time of 8:16.06 and a second place finish overall.

In the field, junoir Jeffrey Caravello (Cranford, NJ / Cranford) registered a season-best mark in the pole vault by clearing the bar at 4.15m while John Garrish had a personal-best and season-best performance in the weight throw with a recorded mark of 12.64m.

Junior Tiffany Dawson (Staten Island, NY / Curtis) and junior Sheena Taylor (Twinsburg, OH / Detroit Mercy) captured the three first place finishes for the Women in the 60m hurdles, shot put and weight throw events. Dawson crossed the finish line in front with a time of 9.30 in the 60m hurdles as Taylor tossed her way to victory in the shot put and weight throw events with measurements of 12.43m and 16.98m respectively.

On the track, Wagner witnessed four personal-best performances. In the 800m run, freshman Cameo Kirk (Ocean Port, NJ / Shore Regional) captured a fourth place finish with a personal-best time of 2:23.96 while Samantha Lauro (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) finished in the tenth place and Brittany O'Keefe registered a personal-best time of 2:38.10 in 30th place.

Freshman Becca Valente (Grantham, NH / Lebanon High School) finished seventh in the 400m dash with a personal-best time of 1:04.24 while sophomore Taylor Fredrickson (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) recorded a personal-best and season-best time in the 3000m run crossing the line at 11:01.25 which was good for fourth place.

Both the 4x400m and 4x800m relay teams captured second place finishes while Tiffany Dawson (Staten Island, NY / Curtis) finished third in the 60m dash with a time of 8.18 and Jessica Balling (Seaford, NY / MacArthur) also finishing third in the 500m dash in 1:22.26.

In the field, Mishelle McNamara (West Covina, CA / Covina) tied the school record she set in the pole vault event at the NYC Gotham Cup on Friday, January 14th clearing a height of 3.40m and receiving third place honors while also recording a season-best and personal-best mark in the high jump with a distance of 1.55m. Kaitlin Eppinger (Union, NJ / Union Catholic Regional) also saw a personal-best performance in the high jump with a mark of 1.50m.

Wagner's track and field teams return to action on Saturday, January 19th at the METS Championships.
