COMPLETE RESULTS

New York, NY
– Wagner's Track and Field team placed three student-athletes in the record books following an impressive performance at the NYC Gotham Cup on January 14, 2011.

Wagner's Mishelle McNamara (West Covina, CA / Covina) had a stand out performance on the pole vault Friday afternoon.  The senior Seahawk dominated the pole vault event with a top-ten finish and set a new Wagner College Indoor record in the process. McNamara added 0.25 meters to her season-best clearance with a vault of 3.40 meters and a fourth place finish. McNamara's record breaking mark is less than a meter short of an ECAC qualifying height.

Another record breaking performance seen in the field was by junior Sheena Taylor (Twinsburg, OH / Detriot Mercy). Taylor captured top honors in the weight throw event while setting a new school record of 18.14 meters. Taylor, who already broke the record once this season, added 0.38 meters to the previously standing record of 17.76 meters set back in December. Taylor also had an impressive performance in the shot put with a toss of 12.75 meters earning her sixth place honors in the event and a new season-best mark.

On the track, junior Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA / St. Joe's Prep) took home first place honors in the 1 mile run. Crossing the finish line in 4:19.48, Iannacone's performance earned him a spot in the record books by beating James Johnston's 2010 record by three-tenths of a second. Iannacone's performance was 3.28 seconds faster than his previous personal-best time.

Freshman Daniel Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph's By The Sea) stood out among other NEC competitors in the 800 meter un-seeded flight by swiping top honors with a time of 1:55.93. Zaccariello's top finish was 0.33 seconds shy of breaking the 27 year old record held by Jorge Hernandez.

Head coach Joe Stasi said, “We had a great showing at the meet and I am very proud of the performances made by all the athletes. We plan on continuing to train hard and improve every meet throughout the remainder of the season and are excited to see what the second half of the season brings.”

The Seahawks return to action on Saturday, January 22 at the Lehigh Invitational.
