Somerset, NJ - Junior Sheena Taylor (Twinsburg, OH/Detroit Mercy) has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Field Athlete of the Week after she threw her way to the top spot on the NEC leader board this past weekend.

Winning the weight throw title at the Fordham Christmas Classic, Taylor broke Wagner's school record by heaving the implement 17.76m (58' 3.25”). Taylor's record throw shattered the four-year old record of 16.71m previously held by Ashley Simon. Taylor's record-breaking performance earned her top accolades for the event.

Her first-place mark easily surpasses the qualifying standard for the 2011 ECAC Championships and stands less than one meter shy of the NCAA provisional standard. Taylor also had an impressive performance in the shot put with a distance of 12.32m, earning her second place honors in that event.
