Junior Sheena Taylor Sets School Record In Weight Throw

Wagner junior thrower Sheena Taylor (Twinsburg, OH / Detriot Mercy) set a new school record in the weight throw event at the Fordham Christmas Classic. Taylor's measure of 17.76m surpassed the four year old record of 16.71m previously held by Ashley Simon and was an ECAC qualifying distance. Taylor's record breaking performance earned her top accolades for the event. Taylor also had an impressive performance in the shot put with a distance of 12.32m earning her second place.

Junior Tiffany Dawson (Staten Island, NY / Curtis) had another outstanding performance in the field earning top honors in the triple jump with a leap of 10.56m and placing second in the long jump with a recorded distance of 4.81m. On the track, Dawson tied for first place in the 60m hurdles recording a season-best time of 9.2.

Impressive finishes also came from the track in the 1 mile run as Wagner placed three athletes in the top five. Freshman Alexis Bivona (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) was the first Seahawk to cross the finish line in a time of 5:22.9 earning second place overall. Dominique Serpe (Staten Island, NY / Notre Dame Academy) followed with third place honors and a recorded time of 5:29.7 as Samantha Lauro (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) clocked in 2 seconds later (5:31.6) for fourth place.
