SYRACUSE, N.Y.
– The Syracuse University cross country team added to its list of impressive accomplishments as it wrapped-up the 2010 season on Monday, November 22 at the NCAA Championship. The women's team secured a program-best 10th place finish in its third trip to nationals, while the men's team matched its 14th place finish from 2009.

The meet, which was hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind. at LaVern Gibson Championship Course, marked the 15th appearance for the men's program. Junior Pat Dupont led all SU runners across the finish line in the 10k race in 33rd to become SU's 12th All-American with a time of 30:26.0. Syracuse has landed a runner on the All-America list in each of the last two seasons.

In the women's 6k race, senior Catherine DeSarle concluded her career in an Orange uniform with a team-best 50th-place finish, improving 45 spots from last year's championship. Oklahoma State's men's team and Villanova's women's squad each repeated as National Champions.

Under the guidance of USTFCCCA Northeast Region Coach of the Year Chris Fox, SU continued to grow in national prominence. Both teams seemed to peak in time for championship season as the men and women hoisted three championship trophies this season. The men's squad repeated as BIG EAST Champions, while the women tied a program-best third-place finish from 2009. The conference meet was extra special for the Orange as it got to perform in front of a home crowd for the first time since 2004. Both teams captured their second consecutive NCAA Northeast Regional Championship. Two student-athletes from both teams earned All-BIG EAST honors, while five from each squad were named to the All-Northeast Region Team.
