Several New York high school track and field athletes posted personal records during competition the week of April 6.
Kendra Gordon (Uniondale) ran 12.04 in the 100 meters at the Knight Time Invitational on April 11, improving from her previous best of 13.29 set in May 2022. The junior finished second in a field of 133 runners and ranks #13 in New York and #2 among juniors statewide.
Damien Chang (Garden City) clocked 11.04 in the 100 meters at the Section 8 League Meet #2 on April 7, breaking his previous mark of 11.63 from April 2026. The junior's time set a Garden City school record and placed him sixth among 438 competitors, ranking #109 in the state and #11 among juniors.
Tyrell Holder (Baldwin) won the 100 meters at the Section 8 League Meet #2 in 10.64, lowering his previous best of 11.24 from March 2026. The senior's time ranks #7 in New York and #4 among seniors statewide.
Sloane Harshman (Ursuline School) cleared 5-2 to win the high jump at the Iona Prep/Ursuline Invitational on April 6, improving from her previous height of 5-0.25. The sophomore ranks #86 in the state and #5 among sophomores.
Sara Osit (Roslyn) ran 15.64 to win the 100-meter hurdles at the Section 8 League Meet #2 on April 7, bettering her previous time of 16.04 from March 2026. The junior ranks #68 in New York and #15 among juniors in her classification.
Vincent Rienzie (Valley Stream North) jumped 21-10.5 in the long jump at the Valley Stream Challenge on April 11, improving from his previous best of 20-6. The senior also set a personal record in the triple jump with a mark of 43-9.75, up from 40-8, and ranks #119 in the state in long jump.
Omari Brutus (Oceanside) threw 142-11 in the discus at the Section 8 League Meet #2 on April 7, improving from his previous mark of 120-8. The sophomore finished fourth among 182 throwers and ranks #100 in New York and #2 among sophomores statewide.
