SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior Corey Robinson (Rochester, N.Y.) of the men's cross country team and volleyball student-athlete senior Hayley Todd (Whitby, Ontario) are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 6, 2010.
Robinson was a member of the 2009 men's cross country team that claimed its first BIG EAST and Northeast Regional Championships in program history. He will be a key asset to the ninth-ranked Orange as it competes to defend its titles in 2010.
As a dual major in geography and television, radio & film, he earned Athletic Director's Honor Roll distinction for the fall and spring semesters during his sophomore year. Robinson and the Orange will begin 2010 action when SU hosts the BIG EAST Preview on Saturday, September 11 at Jamesville Beach Park at 9 a.m. It will be the first time Syracuse will get to perform in front of a home crowd since the 2004 season. SU will also host the BIG EAST Championship on October 30 at Jamesville Beach cross country course.
Todd has led SU volleyball to a 7-0 start this season and is second on the team in kills (75) and blocks (26). She recently earned tournament MVP honors as the Orange clinched its second consecutive tournament title at Samford in Birmingham, Ala. Following her junior season, she was named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team and has earned Athletic Director's Honor Roll distinction for the fall and spring semesters.
Todd, a health and exercise science major, and the Orange will host Buffalo on Tuesday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m. in SU's home-opener. Syracuse will take the court in its newly renovated home at the Women's Building for the first time.
