Dubuque, Iowa – Former Syracuse University cross country and track & field student-athlete Nathan Rath is preparing to compete in the ED Edinburgh ITU Duathlon World Championships in Edinburgh, Scotland in September. Rath competed for Syracuse from 2002 to 2004.
Following his career with the Orange, Rath continued his passion for running and has competed in eight marathons. Running has become second nature to him, but he is relatively new to duatlons, which combine running and biking. Rath recorded a qualifying time during the national championships in Richmond, Va. in April, earning him the right to compete for Team USA in Scotland.
The race is comprised of a 10-kilometer run, a 40-kilometer bike and a 5-kilometer run to the finish line.
Rath, a native of Debuque, Iowa, now resides in Chandler, Ariz, but will be representing his entire country at the World Championships in September.
