SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Michael LeBlanc '10, recently placed third in the 100m event at the Canadian National Championship in Toronto, Ontario. LeBlanc's performance qualifies him to represent his native Canada at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India this October. Seventy-two nations are expected to compete in this edition of the Commonwealth Games, the third-largest multi-sport event in the world behind only the Olympics and Asian Games.

LeBlanc, a native of Riverview, New Brunswick, raced his way into the final with a 10.43-second win in his semifinal heat. His season-best of 10.37 in the final was enough to secure the bronze medal and selection to the national 4x100m relay team for the Commonwealth Games. This marks the second time LeBlanc has been named to a senior level international team, as he was previously selected to represent Canada at the 2007 Pan-American Games in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.

His performances come on the heels of a strong 2010 season at Syracuse in which he earned three BIG EAST titles (indoor 60m, outdoor 100m, outdoor 4x100m), an IC4A title (outdoor 100m), and a BIG EAST record (indoor 60m). LeBlanc finished his outstanding career in orange as a school record-holder (indoor 60m), five-time BIG EAST champion, two-time IC4A champion, and NCAA All-American (2007, 100m).

LeBlanc will compete next at the Aileen Meagher International Track Classic in Halifax, Nova Scotia before joining the national relay team for a training camp in Germany. From there, he will compete in the prestigious Zurich Weltklasse Games in Switzerland on August 19.
