POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (May 25, 2010) -- Following a gutsy effort in which she ran a personal best and a school record time in the 5,000 meters, Vassar College women's track and field sophomore Johanna Spangler was named the Liberty League Track Performer of the Week for the fourth time this season.

At the Oneonta May State Meet last Thursday, a Last Chance Meet for runners trying to improve their NCAA Provisional Time, Spangler recorded a time of 17:31.08 in the 5,000 meters, placing second and recording her second provisional NCAA time of the season. Spangler, who is currently ranked 24th in the nation in 10,000 meters, is the first Vassar runner to run an NCAA provisional time in any event.
