Drager Named NEC Spring Scholar-Athlete of the Year in Women’s Outdoor Track and Field

Somerset, NJ – Wagner College senior distance runner Brecken Drager (Loomis, CA / Del Oro) has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Scholar-Athlete Award winner. 

Drager posted a triumphant distance double at the 2010 NEC Championship, striking gold on the first day of the title meet in the 10,000-meter race, before returning the following afternoon as the top finisher in the 5K run. In the 10,000-meter race, Drager bested 21 other runners with a time of 37:54.39 In the 5k, Drager beat 29 other runners, finishing with her second-best time of the season at 17:48.76. 

One week later, Drager placed first in the 1500-meter run at the NYC Qualifying Challenge. In the final intercollegiate competition of her well-accomplished career, Drager competed in the 5,000-meter run at the ECAC Championships where she logged a time of 17:05.20. 

Drager also earned a spot on the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll (minimum 3.75 GPA), having recently earned her degree in Psychology with a 3.83 grade-point average. 

“We are extremely proud of Brecken's accomplishments both on and off the track,” said Seahawk head track and field coach Joe Stasi. “Brecken is the epitome of a student-athlete and it has been a pleasure to coach her these past four years.”
