DES MOINES, Iowa -- A quartet of former Cornell standout track and field athletes competed at the 2010 USA Track and Field Championships over the weekend in Des Moines, Iowa, with three finishing in the top 12 of their respective events. Muhammad Halim, Morgan Uceny and Garrett Huyler each competed at Drake Stadium, with Halim and Uceny both finishing in the top five. Toni-Lynn Salucci also competed in the 5,000m at her first outdoor USATF meet.

Halim had the top finish on the weekend in taking fourth in the triple jump. His best effort in that event came on his third of six attempts, when he jumped 54-2 3/4, a quarter of an inch ahead of fifth-place Nkosinza Balumbu, but slightly more than a foot and a half behind Kenta Bell's winning jump of 55-10 1/4.

Uceny, meanwhile, ran in the 800m, and narrowly missed her goal of breaking the two-minute mark with her time of 2:00.86, good enough to finish fifth at the meet.

The third athlete competing at the meet, Huyler took 11th in the men's high jump, clearing 7-2 1/2 successfully. He cleared the opening height on his third and final try, then needed just one chance to clear 7-2 1/2, but went out with three misses at 7-3 3/4. Jesse Williams won the event by clearing 7-5.

Salucci rounded out the Cornell contingent in Des Moines, entered in the 5,000m, but dropped out after 3,000m and did not finish.
