SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Five members of the Syracuse University track & field team were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District at-large team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSida) on Thursday, June 3. Graduate student Jeff Scull and seniors Curtis Bixler and Dan Busby were named to the first team and will now go on the national ballot of Academic All-America. The trio represented the most members from a single institution on the first team, while senior Maegan Krifchin and junior Katie Hursey both earned second-team accolades.

Scull represented the Orange at the NCAA East Regionals, where he finished 34th in the 5,000-meter run (14:40.26), while claiming fifth in the event at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship. The fifth-year harrier also qualified for the IC4A Indoor Championship in the 3,000-meter run, where he took second with a time 8:13.97. Scull, the 2010 Cross Country NCAA Elite 88 Award winner, graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in nutrition and is now working towards a graduate degree in exercise science.

Bixler holds the top five times of the season in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, including an NCAA Regional-qualifying time of 9:01.70, which he earned at the IC4A Outdoor Championship. In the indoor season, he placed second at IC4A Indoors in the 5,000-meter run (14:14.84). The Mechanicsburg, Pa. native majored in geology.

Busby concluded his career at the NCAA East Regionals, where he finished 24th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:25.43. He also claimed fifth at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship in the 10,000-meter. His success didn't stop there, as he also claimed the fastest indoor time of the year in the 3,000-meter run (8:06.96) to earn a spot at the IC4A Championship, where he took fourth. The New Paltz, N.Y. product earned a duel degree in accounting and finance.

Krifchin broke the Syracuse record in the 1,500-meter run earlier this season with a time of 4:22.65 and went on to compete at the NCAA East Regionals. She was also a member of the 4x1,500-meter 'Championship of America' relay team, which finished in fifth-place at the Penn Relays earlier this season. The senior also boasted the best time of the indoor season in the 1,000-meter run (2:50.90) and was the ECAC Indoor champion in the mile with a time of 4:48.10. The Bellmore, N.Y. native earned her degree in health and exercise science.

Hursey set the school record in the 5,000-meter run during the indoor season after posting a time of 16:24.82 at the Stanford Invite to earn qualification for her first NCAA East Regional. She joined Krifchin in the 'Championship of America' relay to earn fifth-place. The Hampstead, Md. product also made a statement during the indoor season, when she broke the SU record in the 3,000-meter run (9:24.81) and 5,000-meter run (16:40.95) after claiming second and fourth, respectively, at the BIG EAST Championship. Hursey, the 2009 Northeast Region's Cross Country Athlete of the Year, is currently enrolled in the heath and exercise science program.
