GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Brad Miller claimed 10th-place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:12.69 to earn a spot in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships during the final day of competition at the East Regionals on Saturday, May 29. The veteran harrier, who also holds the season's fastest time in the event, will make his Nationals debut.

Senior Dan Busby (14:25.43), graduate student Jeff Scull (14:40.26) and sophomore Corey Robinson (14:59.51) joined Miller in the 5,000-meter race, but did not qualify for the championships.For the women, junior Katie Hursey finished the event with a time of 17:48.67.

Due to a weather delay, the men's and women's 3,000-meter steeplechase was rescheduled till Saturday morning, when junior Cassie White took the women's fastest time with a 19th-place time of 10:40.89. Fellow junior Rebekah MacKay was the next to cross the line for the Orange (10:47.87) followed by sophomore Natalie Busby (10:55.16). Senior Curtis Bixler represented the men and finished with a time of 9:10.95.

Also in the distance events, sophomore Lauren Penney finished in 18th-place in the 1,500-meter run (4:26.61).

Graduate students Antoine Clarke, Michael LeBlanc and Bernard Bush and freshman Darryl White teamed up in the 400-meter relay to vie for a spot at Nationals, but did not finish the event.

Miller is one of several Orange who will spend the next week and a half preparing for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will take place in Eugene, Ore. beginning June 9.
