Emmitsburg, MD – Senior
James Johnston (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) registered the men's lone first place finish at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships this weekend. Johnston out-ran 21 other athletes in the 3000-meter steeple to finish one second off the College record at 9:38.14.
One day after qualifying in their respective events, senior
Matt Villane (Monmouth Beach, NJ/Shore Regional) and sophomore
Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA/St. Joe's Prep) both provided top finishes. In the 400-meter hurdles Villane finished in seventh place with a season-best 55.84 finish, while Iannacone placed fifth out of 12 athletes in the 1500-meter dash with a 4:00.84 mark.
Sophomore
Zachary Spector (Yaphank, NY/Longwood) added a seventh place finish in the 5000-meter run. Spector finished in 15:44.23 – his second-best time this season.
The men tied for ninth overall with Bryant and Central Connecticut with 24 points. Monmouth University won the event with 214.5 total points.
