Brecken Drager (Loomis, CA/Del Oro) claimed her second first-place finish of the weekend at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship on Sunday. Drager beat 29 other runners in the 5000-meter dash, finishing with her second-best time of the season at 17:48.76.
Both the 4x100-meter relay team and sophomore
Mishelle McNamara (West Covina, CA/West Covina) provided season-best finishes in their respective events.
McNamara placed ninth out of 18 athletes in the Pole Vault event with a 1.50-meter mark, while the 4x100-meter team, consisting of sophomore
Francyna Evins (Staten Island, NY/Curtis), freshman
Tiffany Dawson (Staten Island, NY/Curtis), senior
Amanda Gland (Woodbury, CT/Nonnewaug) and junior
Jessica Balling (Seaford, NY/MacArthur), added a season-best 50.59 finish.
Gland and Dawson also provided impressive finishes in the Triple Jump. Gland finished in seventh place with her best mark of the season (11.42 meters). Dawson placed ninth out of 28 athletes with a 11.32-meter leap.
The women finished ninth overall with 31 points. Monmouth University won the event with 202 total points.
