Emmitsburg, MD – Senior
Brecken Drager (Loomis, CA/Del Oro) finished first in the 10,000-meter run at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship on Saturday. Drager finished with a season-best time of 37:54.29 to take top honors over 20 other athletes.
Also providing a season-best finished for the Seahawks was the 4x800-meter relay team. The team, which consists of senior
Jenna Naglieri (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland), junior
Jessica Balling (Seaford, NY/MacArthur), Drager, and freshman
Dominique Serpe (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy) finished in 9:50.97 to improve on the previous season-best of 10:17.6 set on April 14th.
Other impressive finishes include sophomore
Sheena Taylor (Twinsburg, OH/Detroit Mercy), who placed third in the shot put with a distance of 12.85 meters and 12 th in the hammer throw with a 43.32-meter mark. Both measurements are her second-best distance of the season.
Junior
Mishelle McNamara (West Covina, CA/West Covina) finished the day on a high note with a sixth place mark in the pole vault.
Entering day two the event the women are fourth in the standings with 19 team points. Sacred Heart leads the way with 59 total points.
