FULL RESULTS
Leonia, NJ – The Wagner College Men's Outdoor Track and Field Team placed eighth at the METS Outdoor Championships at Overpeck Park Sportsplex this weekend. Four Seahawks registered season-best finishes at the event - including sophomore
Zachary Spector (Yaphank, NY/Longwood), who placed first in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 32:20.22.
Spector is the only Seahawk to compete in the event this season. The Wagner College record in the event is 32:02.30 set in 2006.
Also finishing with season-best finishes in their respective events is junior Phillip Nelson (Indianapolis, IN/Governor Dummer Academy and senior
Matt Villane. Nelson placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.67, while Villane posted his best finish in the 400-meter hurdles at 56.11. He finished fourth in the event out of 14 athletes.
Other impressive finishes for the Seahawks included senior
Kevin Kearney (Haddonfield, NJ/St. Joe's Prep) and sophomore
Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA/St. Joe's Prep). Kearney registered the second-best time this season in the 800-meter run. He placed seventh in the event out of 29 athletes with a time of 1:57.30. Iannacone placed fifth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:02.68. It was his third-best time of the season.
Wagner finished eighth out of 10 teams with 34 points. Southern Connecticut State finished first with 150 points.
Seahawks travel to Philadelphia, PA on Thursday to take part in the Penn Relays. Recaps will be available later that day.
