– Senior Uhunoma Osazuwa and junior Jarret Eaton took home second and third in their respective events as the Orange track & field teams finished with five BIG EAST qualifiers and two IC4A qualifying marks during the final day of competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday.

Osazuwa earned the highest finish with a second-place victory in the 100-meter hurdles with a BIG EAST time of 14.40, while Eaton was third in the 110-meter hurdles, earning a BIG EAST and IC4A time of 14.05. Freshman Amadou Gueye joined Eaton in the event, qualifying for his first BIG EAST and IC4A Championships after finishing fifth with a time of 14.53.

Sophomore Matthew Callanan was the final BIG EAST qualifier for the Orange. Callanan punched his ticket to the championship in the 110-meter hurdles (15.07) and 400-meter hurdles (55.30) after placing 14th and 10th, respectively. His time of 55.30 in the 400-meter hurdles matched a personal best.

Osazuwa was the lone Orange in the 400-meter dash, finishing 14th with a time of 58.28 in her second of three events. She also placed fourth in the 100-meter dash (12.46), while freshman Charma Harris was 12th (12.82).

Senior Melissa Romero was the other multi-event competitor for Syracuse, who earned sixth in the high jump (1.65m) and 11th in the long jump (5.15m).

The Orange saw three additional student-athletes as the lone Syracuse representatives in their events, including freshman Tyler McCully (400-meter dash, 49.40), junior Victor Nwosu (100-meter dash, 11.12) and sophomore Mark Melilli (javelin, 57.74m).

Syracuse will compete in the Penn Relays beginning Thursday, April 22 through Saturday, April 24. It will also send representatives to the Cornell Big Red Invitational on Sunday, April 25 as a final tune-up before the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships.
