Distance Squad off to Larry Ellis Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Syracuse University track and field team will be sending its distance squad to the annual Larry Ellis Invitational to ompete on Friday, April 16 and Saturday, April 17. The meet, hosted by Princeton University, is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. on Friday at the Tigers' Weaver Stadium.
Most of the runners competing in this weekend's events will be back in action for the first time since the Stanford Distance Carnival earlier this season. Among the competitors will be veteran standout Nana Sang-Bender, who earned the top spot in section five of the women's 1,500-meter run at the Stanford Invite with a time of 4:29.36. In addition to Sang-Bender, senior Brad Miller will also be travelling to the Larry Ellis Invite after legging out another first-place finish for the Orange at Stanford in section two of the men's 5,000-meter race with a time of 13:57.09.
Also representing the Orange will be junior Catherine DeSarle, who took second in the 10,000-meter run at the Stanford meet with a time of 34:17.09. Joining her will be senior Maegan Krifchin and sophomore Natalie Busby, both of whom earned fifth-place finishes in their last outing. Junior Katie Hursey will also make the trip after finishing sixth in the 5,000-meter run at the Stanford Invite.
As for the men, senior Dan Busby will look to join Miller in leading his squad. Busby raced to a second place finish in section two of the 5,000-meter run at Stanford with a time of 13:57.65. Junior Steven Weeks, who placed eighth in the same competition, will also be participating at the Larry Ellis meet.
