Women's Track To Face Penn In Rare Dual Meet Saturday

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's track and field team will experience a a rare event in collegiate track and field on Saturday when it plays host to Penn in a dual meet at the Kane Athletic Complex in Ithaca, N.Y. The dual meet against Penn will be the Big Red's first outdoor dual meet since the 2005-06 season.

The event will feature 19 events beginning at 11 a.m.,  with the hammer throw, long jump and pole vault being contested. Running events will begin at noon with the 3000m steeplechase.

Cornell's last dual meet came on April 22, 2006, at Penn, a 106-57 victory for the Big Red at Penn's Franklin Field. That day, the Big Red claimed victory in 13 of the 19 events, with Jeomi Maduka '09 claiming victory in three events. The Big Red and Quakers last meet in dual meet action in Ithaca on April 20, 2002, with Cornell scoring a 116-47 victory.

While the women's team is in action against its Ivy League rivals on Saturday, the men's team is also in action, competing at both the Princeton Invitational on Friday and at the Moravian Invitational on Saturday.
