Despite cold and windy conditions on Friday night, Cornell distance runners had a number of fine performances and with sunny skies and less windy conditions on Saturday, the Big Red continued to shine.

The Cornell men looked strong in the distance events on Friday night to get the meet started. The biggest highlight came in the final event of the evening, the 10,000 meters. Junior Nate Edelman placed first, running 30:01.24 to go under the IC4A standard by over a minute and led four other Cornellians under the qualifier. The 4X100 quartet of junior Andy Ahart, freshman Jedidiah Adarquah-Yiadom, sophomore Chase Aaronson and freshman Bruno Hortelano-Roig got Saturday off to a good start for the Big Red men, as they placed first in 41.47, an IC4A qualifier. Aaronson came back to placed third in the 100 in 10.74, with Hortelano-Roig joining him as an IC4A-qualifier in 10.78. Hortelano-Roig then came back to win the 200 in another IC4A qualifier of 21.70. Also running well was the sophomore duo of Ken McClain and Brian Freitas, who placed second and third in the 400 hurdles. McClain ran the #8 time in school history, crossing the line in 52.45 while Freitas also dipped under the IC4A standard in 53.10. The Big Red's other IC4A qualifier on the track came in the 4X400 as senior Marcel van Eeden, Freitas, sophomore Cody Boyd and McClain ran 3:12.91 to place second. In the field, one of the highlights was in the discus as senior Scott Jaffee placed first at 168-7 and sophomore Bob Belden was second at 164-4; both were IC4A qualifiers. Belden was also fourth in the shot put, reaching 52-7 1/2 to again better the IC4A standard.
