Orange Face Stiff Competition in Texas

AUSTIN, Texas – Two members of the Syracuse track and field team earned top 10 finishes as a small contingent traveled to Austin, Texas to compete in the four-day Texas Relays, hosted by the University of Texas. The top individual finishers included veteran Michael LeBlanc, who earned eighth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.49, and fellow graduate student Bernard Bush, who finished ninth in the long jump with a leap of 7.25m.
The Orange posted their best finish of the meet in the men's 4 x 100-meter relay. The Syracuse squad finished sixth out of 30 schools in the event with a time of 40.99.
For the women, senior Lorraine Hill registered a mark of 42.15m, placing 12th overall.
Among the other Orange competitors were junior Lareea Chisholm, senior Uhunoma Osazuwa, freshman Darryl White, junior Jarret Eaton, sophomore Matthew Callanan and freshman Amadou Gueye, who each competed in the preliminary rounds of their respective event.
Next up for the Orange is the ASU Sun Angel meet in Tempe, Ariz. on Saturday, Apr. 10. Orange All-American Uhunoma Osazuwa will compete at one of the three biggest heptathlons in the regular season at the Sea Relays in Knoxville, Tenn.
