The reigning Champs haven't budged from US #1 all season.
Niwot, CO has looked strong all season. Not only do they have multiple available front runners, multiple potential winners, a strong compression, and interchangeability at the 5th position, but they have done it before. They only lost two of their Top 7 from a year before, and reloaded with a freshman Ritzenhein who is just as good. They aren't untouchable, but they'll be hard to beat.
CBA, NJ is looking to do just that. They entered 2024 with lofty goals, but ended up with an illness that swept through their team in the week leadup to the event. This year, they've raced much less, but with equal force, and are looking to make a go at it again. They too have the interchangeability up front, and the compression through their fifth. They don't have the 6th runner insurance policy that Niwot does, but if everyone runs well, they won't need it.
Jesuit, CA is another powerhouse team looking to hop on the podium. They've handled their fair share of competition this year, and are looking strong heading into NXN. No real frontrunner allows their team to stay in contact with each other throughout the race, and that familiar face can come in handy in a crowded field.
Herriman, UT was right behind Jesuit at Woodbridge, and know how to race well at Glendoveer. They had some variation at their fifth position, but expect that to tighten up in Portland. Southlake Carroll, TX was on the podium the last time CBA won, as well as when Herriman did, and are looking to repeat that. Jesuit, OR are playing on their home turf, and could very well defend it with a victory.
