Distance Squad to Compete at Stanford

PALO ALTO, Calif. – The distance squad will represent the Syracuse University track and field teams at the Stanford Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 26-27. The distance carnival is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday evening.
For the Orange women, senior Maegan Krifchin will look to lead her squad after completing a successful indoor season. Krifchin, who earned SU's only crown of the ECAC Championships, took home her title in the mile run with a time of 4:48.10. Teammate Nana Sang-Bender, who will also be competing this weekend, finished eighth overall in the same event. SU cross country standout, Katie Hursey, is looking to leave her mark on the outdoor season, after becoming the first NCAA Cross Country Northeast Region women's individual champion in the school's history.
On the men's side, senior Curtis Bixler will look to represent the Orange. Bixler registered his team's best finish in the IC4A Championships, placing second in the men's 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:16.62. Sophomore standout Tito Medrano will also be competing. Medrano placed third overall in the 5,000-meter run with an NCAA provisional time of 14:06.56 at the 2009 Indoor BIG EAST Championships.
