HAMILTON, N.Y. (3/23/10) – Colgate University sophomore Elise DeRoo (Newtown, Conn.) was named the Patriot League Female Runner of the Week following her performance at the Carolina Spring Break Classic in Carolina, Puerto Rico. This is the first outdoor award for the Raiders this season.

DeRoo shattered the school record and finished second overall in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:07.15. DeRoo's time qualified her for the ECAC championships and broke the previous record time of 17:22.08 set by Danielle Whicher '07 in 2004. This was first time DeRoo ever ran this event outdoors and only the second time in her career, her first time was last month at the Patriot League Indoor Championships, where she won the title with an ECAC qualifying time of 17:24.85.

The Raiders will continue their outdoor season on April 2-3, at the Sam Howell Invitation.
