A Look Back
It was the start of something new - a three year rotation of the same course to hold the New York State Championships. Queensbury saw two very different conditions between Pre-States (very hot) and States (calm, but dusty), and some of the best competition of the year played out on the flat, fast course. Zariel Macchia came away with the quickest time of the day, running the 5th fastest time in history, while Bethlehem dominated the team merge, then going on to place 5th at Nike Cross Nationals. Macchia would have similar post-season success, taking third at Foot Locker.
A Look Forward
The reigning State Champ in Class A. has moved on to BYU, and the title is ripe for the taking. Bethlehem finds themselves on top of the rankings Stateside, but only just. Shenendehowa has closed the gap after key graduations, and we could see the New York State Title being decided within Section 2 Sectionals. Saratoga, under new coaching direction, rounds out the Top 3 teams. Individually, a healthy Tsadia Bercuvitz is a force to be reckoned with, but with non-injury related health issues sidelining her for both XC and Outdoor Post-Season competitions, we're ready to see what she can do on the National Level in 2025.
