Distance Races Set To Impress - Loucks Snap Preview

Sprints

Girls Highlights

It's a battle of the State Leaders in the 100m and 200m. Lisa Raye (West Warwick, RI) is coming down to face off against Athaleyha Hinckson (Medgar Evers) over the short sprints. Hinckson is fresh off a personal best at CARFITA, where she ran the second fastest time in New York history over 100m, a wind-legal 11.54. Compare that to Raye, who ran 11.46 last weekend in Maryland, and we have ourselves a matchup.

Likewise, over 400m, Lisa's sister Xenia Raye (West Warwick, RI) will be taking on a different top performer. Haylie Donovan (Somers) has gone 55.18 already this season, and is looking to dip under that 55-second mark. Raye went 54.73 last year, so it might be just the kind of motivation both athletes need.

In the Short Hurdles, Indoor State Champ Taylor Foster (Brearley) takes on Indoor NY-4 Madison Riccardi (Cornwall) and Outdoor NY-3 Parker Steele (Guilderland). For the full distance, reigning State Champ Ava Weiss (Columbia) returns to the event against NY-3 Emeline Clark (Monroe-Woodbury).

Boys Highlights

The 400m has listed a who's who of the event. Kofi Rossi (Poly Prep) was your indoor State Champion over 600m, while Nicolos Sealey (Harry S Truman) was your champion over 300m. Ryan Rauber (Tully) won the 300m NYSPHSAA Title, while James Ciaccio (Saint Anthony's) was the 500m State Leader Indoors. All four are entered here, making for a loaded 400m final.

Sealey comes back in the 400H later in the meet, currently US #13 after his single attempt at the event this Season. With the weather what it has been, this race could go much, much faster.
