DAY ONE RESULTS
Landover, MD – The Wagner College Women's Indoor Track and Field team completed the first day of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Indoor Championship
presented by Road Runner Sports on Saturday. Sacred Heart is the early leader in front of Long Island (19) and Robert Morris (19) who sits tied for second. Defending meet champion Monmouth (17) sits fourth. Wagner is currently in 11th place with five points.
Among the top performers for the Seahawks were senior
Amanda Gland (Woodbury, CT/Nonnewaug), junior
Mishelle McNamara (West Covina, CA/West Covina), and freshman
Kelly Dennis (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa Academy).
Gland placed 13th out of 33 athletes in the Long Jump with a 5.04-meter leap, while McNamara took fourth place honors out of 13 competitors in the Pole Vault event. McNamara's mark ties for her third-best distance this season. Dennis was the surprise of the day for the Seahawks. The first year runner finished with a team-best mark in the 3000-meter run at 11:35.97. She placed sixth in her section.
Thirteen more individual champions will be crowned on Sunday as competition begins with the women's weight throw at 9:30 am.
