WEST POINT, N.Y. (2/20/10) - Colgate University sophomore
Elise DeRoo (Newton, Conn.) won the 5,000-meter run title to lead the Raiders in their first day of competition at the Patriot League Indoor Championship at Army's Gillis Field House. The Raiders sit sixth at the end of the second overall day of competition with 14 points.
Bucknell and Navy lead the meet with 43 points apiece, while Lehigh is right behind them with 38.
DeRoo posted personal-record and ECAC qualifying time of 17:24.85 to claim the 5K title, while classmate
Kelly Cattano (New Providence, N.J.) finished fifth with a time of 18:08.07. DeRoo's time is the third best in the Colgate record book, while the sophomores scored 12 points.
Colgate also collected two points from the 4x800-meter relay team's fifth-place finish. The team of
Ellen Callahan (Weymouth, Mass.),
Alexandra Atkinson (Weston, Conn.),
Arielle Moylen (Glen Ridge, N.J.) and
Jean Sauter (Canandaigua, N.Y.) recorded a time of 9:52.80.
The Raiders return to action tomorrow, Feb. 21, for the final day of competition. Running events kick off at 12 p.m., with the field events starting at 10 a.m.
