ITHACA, N.Y. -- It was a busy and productive weekend for the Cornell men's track team, as the Big Red hosted the 24-team Kane Invitational in Barton Hall on Friday and Saturday, an event that featured over 50 multi-eventers and 1300 athletes overall. In addition, a contingent of men's middle distance and distance runners competed at the Armory's "College Saturday" series on Saturday evening. The weekend was a success, as the men produced 22 IC4A qualifiers, an NCAA provisional qualifier, a new school and freshman record and seven alterations to the all-time top 10 lists.
The field events were a real highlight for Cornell throughout the Kane Invitational. In the horizontal jumps, senior co-captain
Duane Teixeira was outstanding. He won the long jump with the #2 performance in school history, eclipsing the NCAA provisional standard with a leap of 24-11. His performance ranks only behind legendary Olympic silver medalist Meredith Flash Gourdine '52 in Cornell's history. Teixeira was second in the triple jump at 49-10, an IC4A qualifier, finishing behind another Cornell great, 2008 NCAA champion Muhammad Halim '08, who returned to Barton Hall with a fantastic 54-3 3/4, easily a USATF indoor national qualifier. Also in the long jump, junior

Damian Silverstrim was fourth at 56-8 3/4, also an IC4A qualifier.
Erik Roneker '09 placed second in the shot at 53-1 and second in the weight at 57-5 3/4. In the vertical jumping events, the Big Red also had some breakthrough performances. Sophomore
Chris Arlinghaus clared 6-9 1/2 to win the high jump and claim ninth best in school history while earning a spot at the IC4As; freshman
Jourdan White had a seasonal best 6-6 1/2 to get second. And in the pole vault, seniors Rick Zamora and
