Zariel Macchia Wins USATF XC U20 Title
Where: Lubbock Christian Academy, Texas
Breakdown: Zariel Macchia (Floyd) is no stranger to representing Team USA, and that pathway runs through the USATF National Circuit. While a trip to Worlds XC was on the line this time, Macchia still beat out the competition over the 6K distance. Macchia was the defending champion in the event, having won the 6K outing last year in 20:31, albeit on a different course in Mechanicsville, Virginia. She also won the event the year prior, when it was held in San Diego.
Macchia is coming off a third place finish at Foot Locker Nationals, her highest finish ever. In Texas, she had an eleven second margin of victory over NJ's Liliah Gordon, who took 23rd at Foot Locker. Macchia will be running for BYU in the Fall.
