Future Stars: Ethan Owen A Part Of The Burnt Hills Legacy

The beauty of High School sports is that there is always a new face ready to debut. Seniors graduate, and new athletes come in to take their place. Each week, we take a look at one of the names that are here to stay over the next few years, as they take on the veterans of our Sport.

Burnt Hills has been the name to know in Class B over the past decade. Ethan Owen is just another piece of that legacy.

The team currently is sitting on the longest standing streak of boys cross country titles in State history, for any class. They've won the last seven years in a row. They fight again on Saturday to see if the even longer streak of Sectional Titles stays intact.

Owen is the next step. As a freshman, he qualified for the State Meet, placing 37th overall, and scoring as Hill's 4th man. One year later, and Owen is leading the team, and has the third highest Speed Rating for a sophomore in New York.

As a freshman, he broke 10mins for the 3200m, and got down to 2:04 for the 800m. He's taken a big step up over the Summer, and came out swinging this Fall.

He took 5th at the Baldwinsville Invite, behind all upperclassmen. He was the top underclassman at McQuaid. Back home in Section 2, he took 5th at both his home invite, as well as the Suburban Council Champs, the deepest league in the State.

This weekend, he'll face against Queensbury for both the team and individual title once more.
