Junior hurdler Jarret Eaton was named SU's first BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week this season for his NCAA Automatic-qualifying time of 7.68 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.

Eaton Earns SU's First BIG EAST Award

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior sprinter Jarret Eaton was named the BIG EAST Male Track Athlete of the Week for his NCAA Automatic-qualifying mark at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational last Friday, Feb. 5. The Abington, Pa. native represents SU's first BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week this season.

Eaton ran the 60-meter hurdles with an NCAA Automatic-qualifying time of 7.68 seconds to take first place at the annual meet. He leads the national list by .02 seconds. It is the second consecutive year Eaton has qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship after putting forth an NCAA Provisional-qualifying mark in the 55-meter hurdles with a second-place showing of 7.31 as a sophomore.

The Orange track & field team will compete at the Binghamton Triangular on February 12 before travelling to the BIG EAST Indoor Championship on February 20 and 21 in New York City.
