New York, NY – Sheena Taylor (Twinsburg, OH/Detroit Mercy) qualified for the IC4A/ECAC's on March 6th for her efforts at the 2010 New Balance Collegiate Invitational held at the Armory Track and Field Center in New York, NY on Friday and Saturday.
Taylor finished 15th out of 39 athletes in the weight throw with a 16.64-meter launch. The mark was just short of Wagner College's record of 16.71 meters set by Ashley Simon during the 2005-2006 season. Although she did not break the school record, Taylor is the first Wagner woman to earn a spot in the ECAC's this season.
Taylor also had an impressive performance in the shot put – throwing 12.49 meters to finish in 36th place.
Other impressive performances include junior
Mishelle McNamara (West Covina, CA/West Covina), who had her second-best pole vaulting mark of the season (3.30 meters). Senior
Amanda Gland (Woodbury, CT/Northwest Catholic) added another notable finish for the Seahawks. She placed 19th out of 30 athletes in the triple jump with a 11.14-meter leap.
The Seahawks travel to Lehigh, PA for their next competition on February 12th.
