Christopher Johnson (Murry Hill, N.J.) led the men's track and field team with a school record performance in the 5,000-meter run at the annual Giegengack Invitational on Friday night.
Johnson shattered the freshman school record in the 5K with a time of 14:52.59. The previous record was 14:58.10 set in 1991 by Ray Appenheimer '94. Johnson's record time is the eighth best in the Patriot league this season.
The Raiders will split up for a pair of meets on Saturday (Feb. 6), as a number of distance runners will stay for the second day of the Giegengack Invitational, while the rest of the team will compete at the Syracuse Invitational.
