2024 Texas Relays Girls 4x800 Relay
The Flower Mound girls distance program has accomplished so much in the last four years, there is very little they haven't done.
On Saturday, at the 96th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, the Jaguar quartet of Nicole Humphries (Sr.), Alexandra Fox (Jr.), Adeline Bennett (Fr.), and Samantha Humphries (Sr.) won the girls 4x800 relay in fantastic fashion.
After winning last year's event in a 8:55.80 meet record, this year's squad returned 3/4 of the 2023 team to run even faster, lowering the meet record.
Their winning time of 8:46.30 not only set a new Texas Relays standard, but it also ranks Flower Mound as the fourth fastest team of all-time.
Unofficial stick-to-stick splits for the top five record run were 2:10.46, 2:13.0, 2:14.42, and 2:08.42 in that order. Flower Mound had run mostly isolated race, detached from the entire field other that the first 300m of the race.
The quality of pacing throughout the race was commendable, especially considering the amount of distance from the nearest competitor.
Flower Mound will now place focus on the UIL championship season. They begin District 6-6A competition next week.
