New Haven, CT –
Senior Amanda Gland (Woodbury, CT/Nonnewaug) set a new Wagner College Indoor Track and Field record at the Metropolitan Indoor Championships held this Friday and Saturday. Gland soared 11.57 meters in the Triple Jump to claim the College's all-time top spot. The previous record was 11.56 meters set by Alaina Alfano on February 22nd, 2009.

In the process of setting a new school mark, Gland earned sixth place honors among a field of 14 athletes.

Two other Seahawks registered season-best marks in their respective events. Sophomore thrower Sheena Taylor (Twinsburg, OH/Detriot Mercy) led the way with two top-five finishes in the Shot Put and Weight Throw.

In the Shot Put, Taylor landed at 13.06 meters – bettering her previous season-best mark of 12.81 meters set two weeks ago at the NYC Gotham Cup. Taylor placed fourth in the event out of 13 athletes. In the Weight Throw, Taylor flew past her previous season-high of 15.21 meters with a 15.66 meter launch. Her efforts earned her second place out of 17 competitors.

Also having a season-best performance in her event was field athlete Mishelle McNamara (West Covina, CA/West Covina). In the Pole Vault McNamara propelled herself 3.35 meters – bettering her previous season-high of 3.35 meters set earlier this month. She took first place in the event out of seven athletes.

The Seahawks' 32 team points finished tied for eighth place with St. Peter's. Rutgers University finished first with 138 points.

The Seahawks return to action on February 5th at the Collegiate Invite in New York, NY.
