Not all marks are created equal. This is true enough that the NCAA provides a standardized conversion chart for transferring marks from a banked track, to a flat track, and vice versa. In New York State, we don't convert marks for State Seeding, or for our State Leaderboards, but we thought it would be interesting to put our current marks to the test.
Are our State Leaders really the best in the State? Or were there flat track performances that were superior waiting in the shadows, ready to come out when all things are equal at the State Meet? We dove in to find out.
