Schedule of Events
HAMILTON, N.Y. (1/28/10) - The Colgate University women's track and field team will stay at home this weekend to host the annual Katie Almeter Memorial Class of '32 Invitational at Sanford Field House. The first events of the meet kick off on Jan. 30 at 10:00 a.m.
The Raiders welcome 19 teams to the annual event as they continue to build up to the Patriot League Championship on Feb. 20.
The women are looking to continue the success of their indoor season with several standout performances. The Raiders finished fourth of six teams at the Cornell Upstate Challenge last weekend.
Headlining the distance events for the Raiders is the 2009 Patriot League Cross Country champion sophomore
Elise DeRoo (Newtown, Conn.). DeRoo holds the fourth best 3,000-meter time in school history and the fastest time posted in the Patriot League this season. Her time of 10:05.86 was posted at the Syracuse Welcome Back Invitational.
In the mile run, sophomores
Chelsea Burns (Seattle, Wash.) and
Kendall Lyons (Wilton, Conn.) hope to improve upon their league standings. Burns is ranked second in the Patriot League with a time of 5:07.24, while Lyons follows closely behind in third place with 5:11.78.
Sophomore
Kelly Cattano (New Providence, N.J.) is also posting record times this season. Cattano won the 5,000-meter run at the Cornell Upstate Challenge with a personal-record time of 18:05.50. Cattano's time is the second best in the Patriot League this season.
