NEC RELEASE

Somerset, NJ – Senior captain Amanda Gland (Woodbury, CT/Nonnewaug) was named Road Runner Sports Northeast Conference (NEC) Women's Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday. This is the first time Gland has won the award in her four-year collegiate career.

Gland won both horizontal jumping events at the 18th John Covert Classic held on Saturday evening in Lehigh University's Rauch Field House. The senior Seahawk's winning distance (5.58m - 18' 3.75”) in the long jump makes her a Northeast Conference event leader. Gland, who came within six centimeters of achieving another seasonal best at Lehigh, owns the NEC's fifth-best triple jump performance.

Gland's efforts helped the Wagner women to a fourth place team finish in the event. The last Seahawk to win Athlete of the Week was 2009 graduate Alaina Alfano. Alfano earned the honor on December 16, 2008.
