WATCH LIVE: NYSPHSAA NY Track and Field State Championships
BEGINS AIRING June 9-10
Brennan Delany (Hornell) and Neil Howard (Taconic Hills) got the D2 boys 110 meter hurdles started by winning the first heats.
Out of the gates, Delany won the heat 1 with a swift 15.16 qualifying time leading five boys from the heat to get to run in Saturday's final. He initially got to the first hurdle in the lead and never looked back. Dominick Wilson (Newark) was on Delany's heels the entire race, but he clipped the final hurdle with his trail leg giving Delany some breathing room.
Howard followed up in the second heat with the fastest qualifying time from heat 2. Howard also led his heat from start to finish. A smooth race with very minimal hurdle clipping led to his 15.02 fastest qualifying time to the finals.
Jordon Quinn (Freeport) entered as the NY No. 1 ranked hurdler with a 14.00 season best run. He was a full 4 tenths off that mark, with his 14.41 time today, but it was still fast enough for the top qualifying time into the D1 final. Quinn took control at the second hurdle and never looked back.
Bashir Praileau (Albany Academy) showed that the final could be quite the match up. Praileau and his second heat ran 14.58 into a -2.6 headwind with four of them reaching the final. Praileau got a push through the first two hurdles, but he began to pull away before hurdle three. Emmett Forrestell (Clarence) had a furious push in the second half of the race and finished strong into the headwind for a 14.99 and NY top10 performance.
