SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Stefanie Slekis (Montclair, Va.) and sophomore Nick Resavy (West Milford, N.J.) have been named the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of January 18, 2010.

Slekis is a distance runner on the track and field squad. She won the 3,000-meter run in her season debut at the Syracuse Welcome Back Invitational with a 9:56.79. Slekis qualified for both the BIG EAST and ECAC Championships in the steeplechase during the 2008 outdoor season.

Slekis is a triple major in anthropology, public relations and women's studies. The Orange heads to Ithaca to take part in the Cornell Upstate Challenge on January 22 and 23.

Resavy is a sophomore on the men's basketball team. He made the team as a walk-on after serving as a manager his freshman year. Resavy has participated in six games for the Orange this season, averaging 0.3 points and 0.3 rebounds per game.

Resavy is a sport management major in the College of Human Ecology. The Orange hosts Marquette on Saturday, January 23 with tipoff set for 2 p.m.
